Man pronounced dead hours after partner found him collapsed on the floor
An inquest heard that 25-year-old Daniel Dean Williams was found collapsed at his home in Neath after a drug binge and was not pronounced dead until more than 10 hours later. His partner sought advice from relatives, who initially believed he was heavily sedated, before calling emergency services and starting CPR. Williams had a long history of spice use, severe mental-health difficulties and drug-related hospital treatment, and had recently used Telegram to order drugs including cocaine and other substances. Toxicology found cocaine metabolites well above the reported lethal range, along with diazepam and morphine; the coroner concluded that he died from multiple drug toxicity.

Son stole £21,000 from dad and claimed it was spent on Harley-Davidson parts
Peter Jones, 45, stole about £21,000 from his father Robert Jones through bank transfers, cash withdrawals and credit-card payments between August 2023 and May 2024. The fraud was uncovered after Robert's niece Louise Jones noticed suspicious bank statements and confronted him. Jones, a former Army engineer, was described as suffering from addiction and trauma and is receiving methadone and counselling. Caernarfon Crown Court sentenced him for three counts of fraud to 18 months in prison, suspended for 18 months, and ordered him to complete 20 days of rehabilitation activity.

Welsh Water caused leak outside man's home, then said it was his responsibility to fix it
Welsh Water contractors repaired a leak outside Nigel Fullick’s Bryncoch home but allegedly caused a second leak, left it unresolved and filled in the excavation while water was still escaping. The company initially told Fullick that the leak was his responsibility because it was on his property, despite acknowledging that contractors may have dislodged the pipe. Fullick, who has knee and heart problems, also said uneven paving caused him to fall. After WalesOnline contacted Welsh Water, the company apologised, blamed inaccurate information from a contractor, ordered priority repairs and promised to cover the cost of the lost water and damage.

Welsh village where people have grown more frightened each day
Residents of Blaenllechau described growing fear as the Llanwonno wildfire spread within yards of their homes, filling houses with smoke and raising the possibility of evacuation. Firefighters created firebreaks, used aerial water support and worked continuously to protect properties, preventing evacuations. The blaze expanded to about 400 hectares, while road closures and the fire’s smoke disrupted the community and forced a local woodland café to close. Welsh business faces £4m bill after 'significant' sinkhole risk discovered
A failing culvert carrying the River Rhymney has created a significant sinkhole risk beneath access land used by Williams Medical Supplies in Rhymney. The company has closed its car park and part of its access route, while landowner Eco Technology Ltd faces estimated repair costs of £1.5 million to £4 million. ETL disputes having to fund the work, arguing that the river is a national asset and that it was unaware of the culvert when it bought the site. Caerphilly County Borough Council, Natural Resources Wales and the Welsh Government maintain that common-law responsibility rests with the riparian landowner, although the council and other bodies are assisting. Local representatives are urging coordinated action because further deterioration could threaten jobs, public safety and nearby infrastructure, though Transport for Wales says there is currently no evidence of risk to the railway.

Main points from attempted murder trial as jury told accused ran off, ate yogurt and hid
James McKenna is accused of attempting to murder his former partner, Joanne Sidaway, during an ambush in Carmarthen Park on January 29. In closing arguments at Swansea Crown Court, prosecutor James Wilson argued that McKenna’s hiding, repeated stabbing of Sidaway and use of a knife demonstrated an intention to kill. Defence barrister Caroline Rees accepted that McKenna intended serious harm but argued that the evidence did not prove an intent to murder, noting that he did not attack a more vulnerable area and stopped when he had the opportunity to continue. Judge Paul Thomas KC instructed jurors to rely only on the evidence and assess the case rationally. The trial is continuing.

My brother was recovering well in hospital and then doctors put him on end-of-life care
A woman claims her brother, who has dementia, was wrongly placed on end‑of‑life care after initially recovering well in a Welsh hospital. The family also faces a major reduction in his home‑care package despite his increased needs. The local health board acknowledges concerns were raised but says it cannot comment on individual cases.
