Five people were arrested on suspicion of affray after reports of a weapons-involved brawl at a car wash on Cardiff Road in Taff's Well. South Wales Police deployed specialist firearms officers, reported no injuries, and said there was no wider risk to the public while investigations continued.

A temporary hosepipe ban will begin at 10am on July 19 for around 33,000 properties across parts of Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire due to exceptionally high demand for treated drinking water during a prolonged hot, dry period. Welsh Water says the measure is not caused by reservoir shortages but by pressure on treatment and storage capacity. The ban covers hosepipes, sprinklers and similar equipment. Its duration is uncertain and will end once temperatures fall and water demand normalises.
