Driving licence change in August after major DVLA update
The DVLA has expanded its digital medical service, allowing drivers to check how approximately 1,600 medical conditions may affect their ability to drive and notify the agency online. The service can reduce processing times by up to 10 days, enable the DVLA to refer some applications to healthcare professionals within 24 hours, and let users track applications around the clock. More than 60,000 drivers have reportedly used it, while digital uptake has grown by almost 50% over the past year. DVLA chief executive Tim Moss and Roads Minister Justin Madders said the changes would reduce paperwork and costs, improve convenience, and help drivers keep their licences up to date while supporting road safety.
