BBC medical drama Casualty will mark its 40th anniversary with a two-part special airing on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on September 5. The episodes centre on a high-stakes major incident at Holby City Hospital, involving explosions, a major rescue operation, armed police and a fight for survival. Dr Dylan Keogh faces a personal tragedy, while Flynn Byron and Stevie Nash are placed in danger. The series first aired in 1986, has been filmed at Cardiff's Roath Lock Studios since 2011, and is expected to move to a new fictional Welsh hospital setting next year.

Veteran BBC journalist Edward Stourton has died at 68 after living with prostate cancer. Known for his work on BBC Radio 4 and as a longtime presenter of the Today programme, he previously served in major reporting roles for ITN and Channel 4 News. Colleagues praised his intelligence, authority and breadth of expertise across news and religious programming. His career spanned international correspondence, major broadcast roles and authorship of a memoir revealing his illness. He is survived by his wife and four children.
