Football fans' biggest gripes include VAR and ticket costs
A survey of 5,000 football fans found that 61% believe the sport has lost its way and 88% think ordinary supporters are being priced out. Rising ticket prices were the top complaint, followed by excessive focus on money, diving, VAR, FIFA’s influence, inconsistent refereeing and the growing reliance on paid subscriptions. Most respondents wanted cheaper tickets, the abolition or reform of VAR, more free-to-air matches and less FIFA influence. VAR was criticized for delays, stop-start play and perceived advantages for larger clubs. Fans also strongly opposed the regular introduction of Super Bowl-style half-time shows, although Gen Z was substantially more receptive than older generations. Dorking Wanderers founder and manager Marc White said football must keep supporters at the center of decision-making.

Motoring experts warn that blocking vehicles can cause sudden braking, risky manoeuvres, collisions and longer traffic queues.
