Aldi has identified Canvey Island in Essex as one of 25 priority locations for potential new UK stores. The retailer is seeking freehold, leasehold or long-leasehold sites with strong visibility and access as part of a plan to reach 1,500 stores nationwide. The expansion includes more than £370 million of investment this year, with new stores expected to create hundreds of jobs; Aldi says store assistants start at £13.50 per hour nationally and £14.88 within the M25.
