Christine Lampard will co-host ITV’s This Morning with Craig Doyle during the summer break, when regular presenters Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley are off-air. The appointment follows ITV’s decision to reduce Loose Women and Lorraine as part of a £35 million cost-saving programme involving more than 220 job cuts. The wider broadcasting budget crisis is also affecting the BBC, which is reducing content spending, planning substantial job losses and losing BBC Breakfast presenter Rachel Burden after more than a decade. ITV says the changes are intended to balance audience needs with financial sustainability, while Equity has warned that the BBC cuts could damage the creative industries and public service broadcasting.
