Many adults don't understand what health devices track
A survey of 2,000 adults found that 57% use wearable technology to monitor health metrics, but many do not understand the data or alerts they receive. Heart-rate, activity and stress warnings are frequently ignored, while some users either seek medical advice or worry unnecessarily because they cannot interpret the information. Cardiologist Dr Neil Srinivasan advises checking concerning alerts with healthcare professionals, noting that wearable data can support earlier diagnosis. The article also highlights Bupa’s planned 2026 genomics pathway for identifying cardiovascular disease risk and connecting eligible patients with preventive services.
