A Bolton family is receiving strong community support after the sudden death of James Lloyd from an undiagnosed blood clot. His wife, Tamsyn, and their two children have moved in with her parents while continuing to pay mortgage costs on a home they can no longer live in. A GoFundMe campaign created by a friend has provided significant financial relief, and Tamsyn credits the generosity of local residents and the supportive environment in Bolton for helping them begin to rebuild their lives.

Volunteers from House of Rajas, Homeless Aid UK and Bolton Halwa Centre are helping elderly residents across Bolton access essentials during a period of hot weather. The initiative, which grew from outreach during the Covid-19 pandemic, provides shopping support, prepared meals and assistance with staying cool. Key volunteers, including Sital Raja-Arjan, Bharat Kumar and Elaine Guest-Evans, continue to coordinate efforts as temperatures are forecast to remain high through mid-July.

Several Bolton pubs and venues are preparing special screenings and matchday offers for England’s World Cup quarter-final against Norway, including fan park events, themed drinks, live music, and discounted food deals, creating a festive atmosphere across the town.
