Concerns over huge summer fireworks festival amid drought

Investigation launched after major fire at Goring Heath
An investigation is underway after a major fire broke out at a small industrial site in Goring Heath, on the Oxfordshire-Berkshire border. Fourteen fire engines and around 85 emergency responders tackled flames that destroyed buildings, vehicles, pallets and vegetation before spreading toward nearby trees and fields. Flammable gas cylinders reportedly exploded, while strong winds, high temperatures and dry conditions made containment difficult. Crews prevented the fire from spreading to nearby properties, no injuries were reported, and Long Toll Road remained closed to support ongoing operations. The cause of the fire is unknown, and residents were urged to take extra care during the heightened risk of fires.

All benches fenced off at Thames locks for 'public safety'
