Transport for Wales cancelled all train services between Swansea and Llandovery in both directions from around 5am on August 11 because a train crew member was unavailable. Replacement buses operated by AC Jenkins served passengers, but journeys took longer. TfW expected the disruption to continue until 9am, with the incident itself expected to last until 8:30am.

Samuel White, a 33-year-old man from Garnant, was sentenced at Swansea Crown Court after pleading guilty to racially aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm in Ammanford. He punched and bit a man during an altercation outside and inside a shop, causing cuts and grazes, and had nine previous convictions. Although the judge said immediate imprisonment would ordinarily be appropriate, White’s autism, severe learning difficulties, paranoid thoughts and fear of prison were considered in mitigation. He received a two-year community order including rehabilitation activity and mandatory mental-health treatment, along with a £114 victim surcharge.
