Samuel Chukwueze has emerged as a potential key player for AC Milan after Ruben Amorim converted him into a right wing-back in a 3-4-2-1 system. The Nigerian impressed in a friendly against Manchester United by scoring once and assisting twice, earning extended playing time while other outfield players were substituted. With Alexis Saelemaekers being used further forward and another right-sided option still expected from the transfer market, Chukwueze currently appears to be Milan’s first-choice player on that flank. His reinvention, following a loan spell at Fulham, could effectively provide the club with a new signing at no transfer cost, although his defensive work remains an area for improvement.

Roma's proposed move for Porto midfielder Rodrigo Mora is at risk of collapsing after Porto president André Villas-Boas withdrew from the initial agreement. Porto now wants easier conditions for the purchase obligation, greater certainty of receiving a fee next season, and a percentage of any future resale. Roma sporting director D'Amico and coach Gian Piero Gasperini held an urgent meeting, with Mora remaining Gasperini's priority. Negotiations for Inter winger Luis Henrique have consequently been put on hold until the Mora situation is resolved.
