Ryan Richardson was sentenced to two years and eight months in a young offenders' institution after admitting causing the death of a 68-year-old motorist through dangerous driving on the M62. Richardson, who was 18 at the time, became distracted while using Spotify on his phone to replay a song and failed to notice stationary traffic formed because of roadworks, striking a Toyota Aygo at about 59 mph. The victim died at the scene, while two other people suffered minor injuries. Richardson expressed sincere remorse, but the judge said his distraction had caused lifelong grief for the victim's family. He was also banned from driving for six years and must pass an extended retest.

A Hull-based drug operation importing Pregabalin from India collapsed after a parcel was intercepted, leading to the arrests of Christopher Gamble, Stacey Hilton and Jade Gnocchi. Evidence showed frequent shipments from abroad, with Hilton distributing the drugs and Gnocchi storing both tablets and cash. All three pleaded guilty to various drug-related offences. The judge described the activity as an extensive enterprise but imposed suspended sentences and community-based penalties, warning the defendants that future offending would likely result in immediate custody.
