A planning application has been submitted to Cheshire West and Chester Council to convert the former Spital Vaults pub on Spital Walk in Chester into a nine-bedroom house in multiple occupation. The proposal includes shared living, dining and kitchen facilities, minor external restoration, a modified entrance and professional property management. The applicant argues that the scheme would provide managed rental accommodation while reusing a vacant commercial building without harming the area’s character, highway safety or neighbours. The pub closed in 2024 after Marston’s sold it to a property developer; an earlier proposal sought to convert the site into two homes.
