Frustrating draw for CPD Y Rhyl 1879 to kick off new season
CPD Y Rhyl 1879 opened its Cymru North season with a 1–1 home draw against Guilsfield in front of 365 spectators. Rhyl introduced new shirts and several debutants, took the lead through Fairhurst shortly before half-time and created further chances, but Guilsfield equalised late through Alister Williams. Ryan Austin suffered an early injury, and Rhyl will next visit newly promoted Porthmadog.

Rhyl bingo hall 'very fortunate' after crews tackle blaze
A fire broke out in an empty building adjacent to Apollo Bingo on Rhyl High Street on July 31. Fire crews battled the blaze for nearly three hours while police assisted, and staff and customers were evacuated. Apollo Bingo said the hall itself was not damaged and thanked emergency services, employees and the local community for their response.

Man charged for series of car thefts across North Wales
Dziugas Klinavicius, 23, of Manchester, was charged with conspiracy to commit vehicle thefts across North Wales between January 29 and March 22, 2025, as well as using apparatus to interfere with wireless telegraphy. Greater Manchester Police arrested him on July 30. He appeared in court on July 31 and was remanded in custody until a hearing at Mold Crown Court on August 28.

Things to Do Near Rhyl This Weekend as Rhyller Thriller Returns

Second Man’s Body Found in Search for Missing Men in Gwynedd
Simon Wilson’s body was found in the sea near Llwyngwril, Gwynedd, during searches for two men reported missing from Pwllheli. Wilson’s family and the coroner were informed.
