A large fire broke out at a scrapyard in Foundry Yard, Walton-on-the-Naze. Crews from Frinton, Weeley, Clacton and Wivenhoe took about two hours to bring the blaze under control, working with site staff and a digger before leaving shortly after midnight. The fire occurred near Naze Marine Holiday Park, which was unaffected, and its cause was recorded as undetermined.

Jack Housman, 20, of Clacton, has been charged with failing to stop, dangerous driving, driving without insurance and driving while disqualified after allegedly fleeing from a police motorcyclist during an anti-social-driving operation on St John’s Road. The pursuit reportedly reached 100mph before he stopped and was arrested. Housman is due to appear at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on September 9. Essex Police said the operation aims to reduce dangerous driving and protect the local community.

Eight-month-old Nana Amoakoaa was named in connection with a murder investigation in Harlow, Essex. Francisca Nti, 36, of Milwards, Harlow, was arrested and charged with murdering her daughter. Nti appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court and is due to appear at Chelmsford Crown Court on October 1, while Essex Police continue their investigation and appeal for information.
