Forecasts indicate that Essex may see little to no rainfall for the remainder of July, with just 0.1mm recorded so far this month. A major fire broke out late on July 9 at an industrial site in High Ongar, prompting a large response from Essex Fire and Rescue Service. Twelve crews worked overnight with limited water supply to divide and contain the blaze involving industrial units, vehicles and mobile homes. The incident was later scaled down as conditions improved, and residents were advised to keep windows and doors closed.

A van crash on the M25 anticlockwise near Junction 28 has closed one lane, causing queues and delays stretching back to Junction 29. Traffic is moving at about 15 mph, with severe delays reported between Junctions 30 and 27. Details of the incident remain limited, and National Highways has been contacted for further information.
