Commonwealth Games Controversy Erupts as Brit 'Robbed' of Gold Medal
English boxer Dimeji Shittu lost the Commonwealth Games men’s 80kg final in Glasgow to India’s Ankush Panghal by a 4-1 judges’ decision. Shittu was penalized two points in both the second and third rounds for holding and hitting, prompting boos from the crowd and strong criticism from TNT Sports commentators Richie Woodhall and former champion Delicious Orie. Orie suggested that AI-assisted judging could make boxing decisions more objective. Shittu declined to blame the referee or judges, accepting that he had committed a foul and saying he needed to learn from the defeat.
