Palestine Action terror ban challenge to go to Supreme Court as 117 arrested
Palestine Action co-founder Huda Ammori has received permission to appeal the group’s proscription as a terrorism organization to the UK Supreme Court, with an expedited hearing expected between October and December. The appeal will argue that former home secretary Yvette Cooper misapplied her own policy; challenges based directly on freedom of speech and association were rejected. The development came as police arrested 117 people at a Westminster protest for allegedly expressing support for the proscribed group. More than 2,000 related cases were adjourned until October 26, prompting complaints from defendants about inadequate communication, travel costs and court confusion. Protest organizers described the arrests and ban as part of a wider crackdown on solidarity with Palestinians, while authorities said most arrests concerned support for a proscribed organization.
