South Central Ambulance Charity is seeking participants for a charity abseil at Portsmouth’s Spinnaker Tower on September 12, 2026. Participants will descend 100 metres to raise funds for staff and volunteer wellbeing, patient-care improvements and community resilience projects supporting Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire and Oxfordshire. No previous abseiling experience is required, as training and equipment will be provided.

Bicester Town Council has installed 24/7 accessible defibrillators across the town to improve emergency response to cardiac arrests. The devices have already been used and provide voice instructions to guide the public until emergency services arrive, with operators directing callers to the nearest unit when dialing 999.

Garth Park in Bicester will stay open around the clock from July 6 to September 21 as part of a summer trial prompted by public requests for extended access. Bicester Town Council aims to provide greater flexibility during longer summer days and urges visitors to behave responsibly to support the trial’s success.

North Oxfordshire Crematorium and Memorial Park in Tackley is reopening following major refurbishment work, including a full cremator reline and improvements to the chapel such as new microphones and updated décor. The site, which serves surrounding communities, has also achieved Platinum status under the Greener Globe Funeral Standard. A relaunch event on 7 July will host funeral industry professionals and local visitors.
