Spain wildfires: Tragedy as Brit dies abroad after horror blaze left couple in hospital
Lisa Fryett, a British woman from Canvey Island, died on July 28 after being critically injured in a wildfire near Bédar and Los Gallardos, Spain. She and her partner, Simon Batchelor, were rescued and hospitalised after the blaze spread; Batchelor remains in critical condition. A GoFundMe fundraiser has raised more than £65,000 to support the family and provide Fryett with a funeral, while the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office is assisting relatives and contacting Spanish authorities.
