Stuart Anderson backs plans for more rural police officers
South Shropshire MP Stuart Anderson has backed Conservative plans to recruit 1,000 dedicated rural police officers as part of a wider pledge for 10,000 additional officers funded by £800 million. The proposals include rural crime taskforces, greater use of CCTV and mobile-phone evidence, investigations into geolocation data and suspected stolen goods sold online, and tougher sentencing for theft of high-value farm equipment. The Conservatives estimate the broader measures could result in 36,800 additional theft offences being solved each year, but implementation depends on the party returning to government.
