Md Jahidul Islam, Senior Sub-Editor (In-charge of Culture and Entertainment) at the Daily Sun, is a dedicated journalist whose career reflects integrity, professionalism, and a passion for storytelling. Hailing from Jashore, he began his journalism journey in 2010 with the Bengali daily Dainik Samachar while studying at Dhaka University. After completing his education, Jahidul joined The Bangladesh Today as a Dhaka University reporter and later established himself in English-language journalism. Through his insightful reporting he became a respected voice in Bangladesh’s cultural and entertainment media landscape. At the Daily Sun, one of the country’s leading English dailies, he plays a key role in shaping coverage of film, music, and the performing arts. His work is widely appreciated for its accuracy, balance, and contribution to promoting Bangladesh’s creative industries. Over the years, Jahidul has received several national and international honours, including the Digital Media Excellence Award 2025, Bangladesh-Bharat-Singapore (BaBhaSi) International Film Award, Sher-e-Bangla Golden Award, Bioscope Star Award, Excellence in Success Award, Mother Teresa Award and Television Reporters Association of Bangladesh (TRAB Award) . He also served as a jury member at the BaBhaSi International Film Award 2025. A member and leader of several journalist organisations, Jahidul actively promotes ethical journalism, professional development, and international collaboration. His journey continues to inspire aspiring journalists across Bangladesh.
