Chile has reported nearly 250 cases, with a significant number in the affluent district of Las Condes in Santiago. In response to the outbreak, many residents are moving to coastal areas to avoid the infection. Following the declaration of a State of Catastrophe, the military is now patrolling major cities and highways. There is a concern that the virus will spread more rapidly with the onset of winter at the end of May.
