Lisa Slater is sharing the story of her 18-year-old son Nathan Slater, from Wallasey, who died by suicide on November 9, 2024. She said his death came as a total shock because the family had not known he was experiencing mental-health difficulties. Remembering Nathan’s plans, musical interests and close relationship with his family, Lisa described how the loss changed the family and prompted them to make the most of their time together. She has honoured him through a planned trip to Amsterdam and attendance at Creamfields, while urging men experiencing mental-health struggles to speak openly and calling for improved mental-health provision in Wallasey.

Four men aged 23, 24 and 26 were killed when a black SEAT Cupra left Liverpool Road in Huyton and struck a lamppost shortly before 2am on July 24. A 27-year-old passenger was hospitalized in stable condition. Merseyside Police launched a serious collision investigation, closed nearby roads, and imposed a temporary drone restriction while appealing for witnesses and doorbell footage.

A 29-year-old Liverpool woman, Thouhida “Tia” Chowdhury, learned she had terminal lung cancer while 14 weeks pregnant, leaving her with an expected two to three years to live. After months in hospital and chemotherapy, her daughter Isabella was born prematurely at 30 weeks and remains in neonatal care. Tia and her husband Lewis are focusing on creating lasting memories for their daughter while facing significant emotional and financial strain, including medical expenses and home adaptations. Family members have launched fundraising efforts to support them in the coming months.
