Mum and dad charged over death of their one-year-old Maero Johnson pictured
Kylie Smith, 25, and Adam Johnson, 26, of St Helens, have been charged with causing or allowing the death of their one-year-old son, Maero Johnson. Police said Maero died in hospital on August 23, 2023, after a post-mortem found ketotic hypoglycaemia and severe malnutrition. The couple also face child-neglect and cannabis-possession charges after a second child was reportedly found neglected and under-developed. They are due to appear at Liverpool Magistrates' Court on August 13, 2026.

Four men in their 20s killed in horror crash after car smashes into lamp-post in Huyton
Four men aged 23, 24 and 26 died after a black SEAT Cupra left Liverpool Road in Huyton and struck a lamp-post shortly before 2am on July 24. A 27-year-old passenger was taken to hospital in stable condition. Merseyside Police has launched a serious collision investigation, closed multiple roads and appealed for witnesses and doorbell footage. A temporary drone restriction is in place around the crash site while the families of the victims are supported by specialist officers.
