Magnitude 7.4 quake rocks western Colombia, killing at least 111 people
A magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck western Colombia, killing at least 111 people, injuring many more and damaging or collapsing hundreds of buildings. Cali, Pereira and other communities reported major destruction, with residents and emergency workers searching rubble for survivors and many people temporarily trapped or displaced. Damage and casualties were also reported in neighboring areas, while Colombian authorities assessed the disaster and international partners offered assistance.
