The second season of BBC crime drama Ludwig returns with Cambridge again serving as both its setting and filming location. Producer Georgie Fallon and executive producer Kenton Allen say the city’s blend of historic architecture, modern science parks and recognisable identity gives the series a distinctive visual character, while David Mitchell praises its beauty but calls filming there an “absolute nightmare” because of narrow roads, traffic restrictions and the large production vehicles required. The new season follows John “Ludwig” Taylor as a crime scene consultant working with DCI Russell Carter on seemingly impossible cases, with guest appearances from Stephen Merchant and Sian Clifford. It premieres on BBC One and iPlayer on August 20.
