West Sussex schoolgirl shares pride after Dragons' Den success during GCSEs
Sisters Cat and Honor Black secured investment from all five Dragons on BBC’s Dragons’ Den for Maiden, their cricket clothing, teamwear and equipment company designed exclusively for women and girls. The business grew out of their negative experiences playing in male-dominated environments with unsuitable kit and limited support. Cat filmed the programme while sitting her GCSEs, including a Spanish exam the following day, and has since described the achievement with growing pride. Maiden has now supplied 70 clubs, built an ambassador network of more than 300 people and begun expanding into the United States, with enquiries from New Zealand and South Africa. Cat hopes to work full-time for the company after completing her education.
