Heartbeat actress Tricia Penrose has announced that she has bought The Aidensfield Arms, known as The Goathland Hotel, where her character Gina Ward worked for 18 years. Penrose acquired the pub with two local businessmen and received enthusiastic support from fans. The venue is closely associated with ITV’s Yorkshire-set drama, which ran from 1992 to 2010 before being cancelled as part of ITV’s programming overhaul.

In a repeat episode of Channel 4’s Four in a Bed, York guesthouse owners Laura and Lucy criticised The George Inn in Derbyshire for dirt in the extraction fan, a mark on the bed and an uncomfortably cold room. Lucy said she would not have stayed there outside the show and rated the quality of sleep five out of ten. Owners Richard and Mick defended the heating system but said they planned to introduce individual room controls. The inn was underpaid by £72 overall and finished fourth in the competition.
