Volunteers at Venray War Cemetery in the Netherlands are seeking photographs and family information for 11 Welsh soldiers killed during World War Two whose graves have not yet been matched with images. The Venray War Cemetery Adoption Graves Foundation has located 440 photographs since beginning its search in 2020, but the remaining cases are increasingly difficult. Relatives of soldiers Maynard Powell and James Bumster describe the emotional importance of discovering and visiting their graves, while volunteers urge families to check their histories and help ensure the soldiers are remembered.

James McKenna, 57, was found guilty of attempting to murder his former partner, Joanne Sidaway, after repeatedly stabbing her in Carmarthen Park on 29 January. Sidaway survived despite suffering multiple injuries, with her coat helping to protect her. McKenna admitted taking a sharp kitchen knife to the park intending to cause serious harm, attacking Sidaway six or seven times, and fleeing before hiding in woodland for three days. He was later arrested at Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth. He had already pleaded guilty to wounding with intent and will be sentenced at Swansea Crown Court on 2 September.

A teacher at Milford Haven Comprehensive School was attacked by a 16-year-old pupil who allegedly stabbed her with a kitchen knife after following her into a classroom under the pretext of seeking help with homework. Court testimony described the victim’s defensive struggle, her serious injuries, and CCTV footage showing the boy fleeing. Prosecutors argue the act was an intentional attempt to kill, while the defence maintains the stabbing was accidental. The school briefly went into lockdown and the trial is ongoing.

A 16-year-old boy denied attempting to murder teacher Vicki Williams after allegedly attacking her with a kitchen knife at Milford Haven Comprehensive School. Prosecutors said he followed her into a classroom, closed the door and stabbed her in the head and back before fleeing, while Williams defended herself and screamed for help. The school entered temporary lockdown and she was treated for multiple injuries at Withybush Hospital. The prosecution argued the attack was a deliberate attempt to kill, while the defence claimed it was an accident. The trial is ongoing.

Emergency services responded to a collision between a coach and a van on the A40 near Llandeilo, where the van driver died at the scene. The bus driver and a 14-year-old passenger were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police have informed the victim's family and appealed for information or dashcam footage, while the bus operator declined to comment.
