Wiltshire police show-jumper crowned champion at event
Wiltshire Police financial investigator Hollie Clark and her horse Figgy won the 90cm and 1.10m show-jumping classes and placed second in the 1m class at the Police Sport UK Southern Championships Blue Lights Horse Show in Chard, Somerset. Clark was named both PSUK Show Jumping Champion and Overall Show Champion and helped a mixed team from Devon and Cornwall Police and the Royal Navy win the team competition. She also displayed a Thin Blue Line flag in remembrance of PC Andrew Harper and in solidarity with police officers.

Maintenance works carried out in the Swindon area by team
St Andrews Parish Council’s grounds team has carried out litter removal, graffiti cleaning, fly-tipping clearance and vegetation cut-back work across the Swindon area. Swindon woman in skydive for childhood cancer charity
Swindon residents Georgia Neish and Billie Jones raised £1,650 for Young Lives vs Cancer by completing a skydive above Salisbury in memory of Georgia’s brother Mitchell, who died of cancer aged 21 on Christmas Eve 2023. The charity had supported Mitchell’s family with accommodation, financial assistance and a support worker. Young Lives vs Cancer said the money could fund more than 63 hours of specialist social-worker support for a young cancer patient and their family, and noted that it supported 67 young patients and families in Wiltshire during the previous year.

Haydon Wick Parish Council has opened a new grounds maintenance facility after several years of planning and construction. The purpose-built centre brings staff, vehicles and equipment together, providing workshops, storage, offices and welfare facilities to support maintenance of local parks, play areas and open spaces. The facility includes 32 solar panels, tree replacement, reused materials and electric-vehicle charging infrastructure, and was developed after the council’s grounds maintenance responsibilities expanded following their transfer from Swindon Borough Council in 2017.

Ninety-five-year-old Swindon sculptor Dennis Chandler believes he has completed his final major project after more than 30 years of work. His latest bust depicts railway engineer Sir Daniel Gooch and completes an informal collection honoring the railway figures who helped transform Swindon. Chandler, a retired Pressed Steel and Rover plant worker, has also created sculptures of people connected with the town's sport, literature, public life and entertainment. He says he sculpted out of affection for Swindon rather than for recognition or financial gain, and hopes the collection will inspire interest in sculpture and the town's history.
