World Cup 2026: Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha honoured by name to new species
Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha has been honoured with a newly discovered red sea slug named Aldisa vozinha by biologist Jesus Ortea, who cited the player's standout performance against Spain at the 2026 World Cup. Vozinha’s heroics boosted his global fame during Cape Verde’s historic campaign, which included a draw with Spain and a narrow extra‑time loss to Argentina. Ortea, previously recognised for his marine research around Cape Verde, has also named species after figures such as Keylor Navas and Quini.
