Migration Advisory Committee

The Migration Advisory Committee held its 199th meeting on 19 June 2026. Members reviewed feedback on occupation assessments for the Temporary Shortage List and plans for publishing its draft report, considered evidence and potential recommendations for the Talent Review—including the Global Talent and Innovator Founder visa routes—and reviewed a draft chapter on the Youth Mobility Scheme for the committee’s annual report. The Home Office provided updates on recommendations concerning salaries, social care immigration and sponsorship licensing, while the secretariat reported progress on talent, horizon-scanning and housing-literature work.

The Migration Advisory Committee held its 198th meeting on 22 May 2026. Members reviewed work on the Talent Review, responses to a Call for Evidence, housing analysis and occupation assessments for the Temporary Shortage List. The Industrial Advisory Council presented its remit and work on skills and labour-market issues. The Committee also discussed exploratory analysis of migration policy changes and employer investment in training, noting data limitations and broader contextual factors.

The Migration Advisory Committee held its 197th meeting on 17 April 2026. Members reviewed responses to the Talent Review call for evidence and discussed UK Visas and Immigration perspectives on the Global Talent and Innovator Founder routes. The Department for Education and Department for Work and Pensions presented cross-sector skills initiatives, including reforms to the Growth and Skills Levy and updates on Technical Excellence Colleges. The committee agreed the scope and assessment approach for occupations being considered for inclusion or exclusion from the Temporary Shortage List, including how exploitation risks should be presented.
