The family of 52-year-old Scott Morris has thanked the local community for supporting efforts to find him and asked for privacy. Morris, from Weston-super-Mare, had been missing since July 23, and a body discovered on August 8 on the northbound M5 between junctions 22 and 21 is believed by Avon and Somerset Police to be his. Formal identification had not yet taken place, and the death was not being treated as suspicious; police were carrying out enquiries for the coroner.

Several individuals from Bridgwater, Taunton, and wider Somerset received sentences at Taunton and North Somerset Magistrates’ Court for offences including dangerous driving, theft, drunk and disorderly behaviour, drink driving and failure to provide driver information. Penalties ranged from fines and surcharges to driving disqualifications, conditional discharges and a suspended custodial sentence.
