There Are Baby Parts All Over My Kitchen - Heads and Limbs Everywhere: Glasgow Mum on Helping Grieving Parents
Glasgow artist Gayle Macdonald creates highly realistic reborn dolls from her home, hand-painting veins, wrinkles, skin tones and other details over several weeks. She began making the dolls in 2014, left her sales job in 2016 and now sells about three custom dolls a month for roughly £550 each. Her customers include collectors, empty nesters, teenagers and some bereaved parents who find comfort in the dolls. Macdonald emphasizes that most buyers are collectors rather than people needing psychological help, and hopes to continue developing her craft.
