Banned driver in stolen Maserati killed pensioner in garden in 85mph crash
Fraser Garden, a disqualified driver with 90 previous convictions and two lifetime driving bans, admitted causing the death of 74-year-old John Bell by dangerous driving in Broughty Ferry. Garden had stolen a Maserati Quattroporte, driven at up to 85mph in a 30mph zone, crossed onto the wrong side of the road and crashed through a hedge into Bell’s garden, pinning him against a wall. He had tested positive for cocaine and refused a blood sample. Judge Lord Braid described the conduct as truly appalling and deferred sentencing until 21 August.
