Cricket captains from around the world renew appeal for medical care for Imran Khan
Twenty-two former international cricket captains have renewed their appeal to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for medical care for imprisoned former prime minister Imran Khan. They questioned a recent examination that lasted only a few hours and was conducted by a state-appointed team rather than the medical board ordered by Pakistan’s Supreme Court. Khan’s family and lawyers allege medical neglect and violations of court directions, while the government says he was examined by private-hospital doctors, could not safely be transferred to Shifa International Hospital, and is receiving adequate medical and family access.
