A three-year-old girl suffered serious head injuries after being struck by a blue Volkswagen Golf on Tower Street near Clifford’s Tower in York. She was taken to hospital, where she remained, while North Yorkshire Police investigated the collision. The road and a nearby pedestrian crossing were closed during the investigation before Tower Street reopened at about 3am. Police appealed for witnesses to come forward.

A runner was chased and bitten by a large, predominantly white Mastiff-type dog with black patches and a pink nose on the Ouse Bank riverpath near Selby Swing Bridge. The incident caused a graze and damaged the runner’s clothing. North Yorkshire Police are seeking witnesses, images, video footage and information about the dog and its two owners, and have provided online, telephone and anonymous Crimestoppers reporting options.

Four people became trapped in a lift at a property near York city centre shortly after midnight. Firefighters from York responded to an emergency call on Redeness Street, but North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service said everyone had been freed by the time crews arrived.

The Motorist in Sherburn in Elmet hosted a free Supercar Day attended by car enthusiasts of all ages. Visitors viewed high-performance and luxury vehicles including Ferraris, Lamborghinis, McLarens, Porsches, Aston Martins, Corvettes, Chevrolets and Audi R8s, while meeting owners and accessing food and drink at the venue. Luxury driving specialist Arvelo also attended, as part of a wider programme of automotive events at The Motorist.

A police incident has closed the Foss Islands Path footpath and cycle route near the junction of Wigginton Road and Crichton Avenue in York. Officers are guarding the cordoned-off area, but police have not disclosed what happened. The public is asked to provide any relevant information to the local newsdesk.

Two tree branches fell onto telephone wires in Ryedale, prompting a North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service crew from Pickering to respond at 8:48 p.m. Firefighters used GP lines to remove the branches safely. The incident followed a separate event in which 21-year-old Emilie North escaped injury after a branch fell onto her Fiat 500 while she was driving in York.

Hollywood Vampires performed a sold-out 105-minute concert for 8,000 fans at Scarborough Open Air Theatre in North Yorkshire. The supergroup—Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp, Joe Perry and Tommy Henriksen—played a mixture of original material and covers, including songs associated with Aerosmith, David Bowie, AC/DC, Run-DMC, Pink Floyd and Cooper. Punk and goth-rock band The Damned opened the show, which also included a tribute to guitarist Jeff Beck. Cooper had been seen earlier at Scarborough Market Hall, while the event was documented in a photo gallery.

A combine harvester caught fire in a field on Market Weighton Road in Barlby near Selby at 4:18 p.m. Fire crews from Malton and Selby attended after the driver used an extinguisher, then cooled remaining hotspots with a hose reel jet. Earlier that day, crews also dealt with a forklift battery fire at an industrial estate in Thirsk.
