Vile predator dubbed the 'Coronation Street rapist' dies painfully behind Yorkshire prison bars
Serial rapist Andrew Davies, also known as Andrew Barlow and Andrew Longmire, died from brain cancer at HMP Moorland in Doncaster on February 28, aged 69. A coroner ruled that he died of natural causes, while the Prisons Ombudsman found that he received a reasonable standard of clinical care. Davies received multiple life sentences for raping 11 women and additional offences committed across northern England during the 1980s. He was released in 2023 after 34 years in custody but was recalled six weeks later for breaching his licence conditions.
