Jet2 stops family from boarding flight home, leaving them stranded in Greece
A family from Leeds says Jet2 stopped them from boarding their delayed flight home from Rhodes after their six-year-old daughter vomited once in the departure lounge. The family says no medical assessment was conducted and that they had to pay about £1,000 for accommodation, transport and an easyJet flight to Newcastle. Jet2 says its staff followed procedures designed to prevent illness spreading onboard, helped the family find accommodation and advised them to retain receipts for an insurance claim. The family disputes the airline’s claim that it has been in contact with them about their complaint.

Birds Eye Updates Fish Finger Sandwich Recipe After Consultation
Birds Eye has updated its official Classic Fish Finger Sandwich recipe after research found that two-thirds of fish finger fans prefer cutting the sandwich vertically through the fish fingers. Fifteen percent favor a diagonal cut, while a third say they have argued over the correct method. Birds Eye says cutting the fingers releases steam and creates a more even balance of coating, fish and bread, while acknowledging that the preferred method remains a matter of personal taste.

Exact date UK will see dramatic solar eclipse this summer and best time to view it
A partial solar eclipse will be visible across the UK and Ireland on August 12, with up to 95% of the Sun covered depending on location, marking the greatest coverage since 1999. Royal Museums Greenwich outlines the timing of the event, which begins shortly after 6pm and peaks just after 7pm across the UK. Regions such as the South West will see the highest coverage, while all areas will experience reduced light and cooler temperatures. Safe viewing requires certified ISO 12312-2 eclipse glasses, as the Sun will not be fully obscured.
