A major wildfire near Ryvoan Bothy in the Cairngorms National Park prompted evacuations in Glenmore and warnings for residents in nearby Aviemore as smoke drifted toward populated areas. Prince Edward presented his daughter Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor with her gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award during a celebration at the Palace of Holyroodhouse marking the programme’s 70th anniversary.
