Funeral notice for M9 crash teen, 15, removed after flood of angry abuse
A funeral notice for 15-year-old Joe Carthy, one of five teenagers killed in a wrong-way collision on Ireland’s M9 motorway, was removed from RIP.ie after angry and abusive comments were posted. The crash also seriously injured a family of four travelling to Dublin Airport. Gardaí said the BMW had been travelling at more than 74 mph and was legitimately purchased for €1,100, rejecting the earlier belief that it had been stolen.

Family in car in head-on crash which killed 5 teens on M9 were heading to UK wedding
Five teenagers—Jeremy O'Brien, Alex McCarthy, Joey Carthy, Jack Kennedy and Kamil Pustkowski—were killed when their BMW travelled the wrong way on the M9 in County Kildare and collided head-on with a Hyundai carrying a family of four. The family had been travelling to Dublin Airport for a wedding in England; all four were seriously injured, including a seven-year-old boy. Gardaí now believe the BMW was legitimately purchased rather than stolen, while Fiosrú examines police contact with the vehicle before the crash. The tragedy has intensified debate over pursuit training, road safety enforcement and dangerous driving reportedly shared on social media.
