Tributes paid to teens killed in M9 crash as survivors remain in serious condition
Five teenagers—Jeremy O’Brien, Alex McCarthy, Joey Carthy, Jack Kennedy and Kamil Pustkowski—were killed when their BMW collided head-on with a Hyundai travelling on the wrong side of the M9 in County Kildare. The four Hyundai occupants, members of one family, remain seriously or critically injured, including a seven-year-old boy. Tributes have been paid to the victims, while Gardaí have clarified that the BMW was legally purchased rather than stolen. Fiosrú is examining Garda contact with the vehicle before the crash amid criticism of the police response and wider calls for stronger enforcement against dangerous wrong-way driving.
