Medway Council sold the Gurkha Fire restaurant in Chatham for £325,000 as part of efforts to raise revenue and support regeneration plans. Medway-based band leader and jazz musician Donn Barcott has died after 70 years on the road
Jazz band leader Donn Barcott, a Medway music figure for more than seven decades, has died at age 92. Known for his long career performing across Kent and London and for leading several ensembles, he was widely regarded as a talented drummer and generous mentor. Tributes praised his warmth and dedication to live music. He died at Maidstone Hospital and is survived by two daughters, with funeral details pending.
