A man with prior convictions attempted to run down two men on Borough Road in Middlesbrough before confronting them with a knife. CCTV showed his car veering off the road and crashing into parked vehicles as the targets narrowly escaped. The defendant, who had earlier been found with a knife and cannabis, admitted intending to stab one of the men but did not follow through. He pleaded guilty to attempted grievous bodily harm and possession of a bladed article and received a 46‑month prison sentence at Teesside Crown Court.
