Gaza: Football fans watch the World Cup amid the rubble in tribute to those killed
Football screenings organised by aid worker Mohammad al‑Waheidi continued in Gaza after he was killed in an Israeli strike, prompting large public gatherings to honour him. The strike also killed three others, including two children, with no militant group claiming the victims as members. Egyptian officials raised concerns with Israel over the killing, while Gazans highlighted Waheidi’s efforts to bring relief to displaced residents. Despite an existing ceasefire, Israeli attacks have persisted alongside continued militant activity. Hamas representatives travelled to Cairo for further negotiations as indirect talks with Israel remain stalled over disarmament and military withdrawal terms.
