Calls to block early release of PC Andrew Harper's killers
Police chiefs from across the United Kingdom have urged the Prime Minister to use every lawful option to prevent the early release of those convicted over the 2019 death of PC Andrew Harper. Their open letter calls for stronger public-protection safeguards and greater consideration for victims and bereaved families when sentencing or release rules change. Harper’s widow, Lissie Harper, and mother, Debbie Adlam, have campaigned against the planned changes, while the Government is expected to announce in September how Harper’s killers and other serious offenders will be exempted from the early-release scheme.
