The Baltimore Ravens agreed to a four-year, $140 million extension with two-time Pro Bowl receiver Zay Flowers, including $108 million guaranteed. Flowers, drafted in the first round in 2023, has recorded consecutive 1,000-yard seasons and recently caught 86 passes for 1,211 yards and five touchdowns. The deal makes him a major long-term investment and a central target for quarterback Lamar Jackson.

The Boston Red Sox acquired All-Star catcher Adley Rutschman from the Baltimore Orioles before the trade deadline in a deal involving three of Boston’s top prospects. The move was part of an aggressive series of acquisitions led by chief baseball officer Craig Breslow as Boston attempted to build on a strong midseason surge and improve its playoff prospects. Baltimore also received prospects and continued reshaping a roster that had recently declined after a period of success.
