Statement from the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland
Northern Ireland Secretary Chris Bryant says the legacy of the Troubles must be addressed to secure answers for bereaved families, including families of Armed Forces personnel. After meeting victims’ and survivors’ groups, the Commissioner for Victims and Survivors, the Veterans Commissioner and veterans, he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to advancing the Northern Ireland Troubles Bill. He said the legislation should help as many affected people as possible and command the confidence of both victims and those who served to maintain law and order.
